First Communion Preparation at Our Lady of the Lake
At Our Lady of the Lake, preparing for First Communion is a two-year journey that begins as early as 1st grade. Families are invited into this path of prayer, learning, and joy — growing closer to Jesus through both parish gatherings and at-home family meetings.
PRE-COMMUNION YEAR
Pathway: Made

The Pre-Communion year focuses on Made, which helps families reflect on what it means to be created in God’s image and called to relationship with Him.
- Families explore identity as children of God.
- At-home family meetings and parish sessions set the foundation for a life of discipleship.
- This year also provides a gentle introduction to the preparation process for the Sacraments.
Communion Year

Pathways: Mend + Nourish
In the Communion year, families walk with two resources: Mend and Nourish. Together they form a year of preparation leading to First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
- Mend helps children and families encounter the beauty of God’s mercy through prayer and reflection, as they prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
- Nourish guides families deeper into the gift of the Eucharist, so children understand the treasure of receiving Jesus — Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity — in their First Communion.
- Parish gatherings, retreats, and at-home family meetings provide both the knowledge and the heart-formation needed for these sacramental encounters.
