This committee, which is composed of a Parish Council member and other volunteers, undertakes activities to raise consciousness among parishioners about the Church’s social needs and issues in the parish and larger community. This committee helps parishioners in answering their call to social ministry and establishing them in their mission of service to the people of God. You can help make a difference in the lives of our poor brothers and sisters at St. Bertin in Haiti. As you go about your busy life, do you ever wish you could make a difference in someone else’s life? Disciples in Action is a ministry offering you an opportunity to reach out to your fellow OLOL parishioners at times of crisis. During these difficult times, DIA will extend a hand of friendship by offering prayers, sending cards, making calls of encouragement, home visits & providing an occasional meal. Other needs will be addressed on a case by case basis & these activities will be expanded as resources & volunteers become available. There are people in our parish, whether elderly or disabled, who may need help with simple tasks around the house. Some things may seem so easy to do, but for some people, it can be a difficult task, such as changing a light bulb in an oven. The mission of Our Lady’s Pantry is to provide service to the Parish Office by accepting, sorting, and storing food items donated by parishioners. The volunteers in this ministry prepare bags filled with an assortment of food items that will feed a family of four a minimum of 3 meals a day for 4 days. The bags are then placed for access by the parish office to provide food for those families that come to the church seeking food assistance. The goal of this committee is to educate and keep our parishioners up to date on “life issues”; to respect life in all stages and to accomplish this through prayer and action. For more information, please contact the main office at 615-824-3276.

This ministry provides overnight shelter and meals to Nashville’s homeless men who are transported to OLOL on Sunday evenings from November through March. You can serve as an innkeeper, weekend team-member, preparer of food, or linen launderer. A Catholic lay organization that leads men and women to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person services to members of our parish and our community who are suffering and in need. In the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul, members who are known as Vincentians are united in an international society of charity by their spirit of poverty, humility, and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings and adherence to a basic RULE. Vincentians witness God’s love by embracing works of charity and collaborates with other people of goodwill in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served because, in them, we see the face of Christ. The Health & Wellness Ministry provides regular health & wellness education for parishioners and other members of the community focusing on various aspects of health in body, mind and spirit. They participate regularly in health and fitness-oriented events like the Red Cross Blood Drives, Memorial Day Classic, Walk Across Sumner, etc. and invite parishioners to these events. Often time they will post practical tips about health and wellness on our various parish platforms including social media. These generally focus on healthy eating, proper hydration, mindfulness and regular exercise.
